IndiGo offers flyer Rs 2,450 for missing bag worth Rs 45,000. Passenger wonders 'if the plane was leaking bags'
An IndiGo passenger expressed dissatisfaction with the airline's minimal compensation of ₹2,450 for a lost bag containing valuables worth ₹45,000. The issue was highlighted on social media. The passenger's bag didn't arrive at Guwahati Airport aft...
The issue came to light after a friend of the passenger shared the incident on social media network X (formerly Twitter).
"Every day you learn how the system can mess you up in a new way. @IndiGo6E lost my friend's @nik1220
's baggage on a domestic flight (Kolkata-Guwahati)," the Twitter user wrote.
According to the tweet, the passenger boarded a Kolkata-Guwahati flight. The bag was checked in at Kolkata Airport but allegedly never arrived at Guwahati Airport.
The bag was said to contain items worth ₹45,000, along with important documents like a driving license, PAN card, Aadhar card, etc.
The incident occurred in July this year, as indicated by the date on the alleged boarding pass.
A month later, IndiGo offered the passenger a mere ₹2,450 in compensation.
“It is ridiculous. Just the bag would cost more than that. Apparently, there is a rule that the airline is liable for a maximum of ₹350 per kg if they lose the bag. That is just adding insult to injury. If someone from the IndiGo social media team is reading this, please help him out. ₹2,450 isn’t going to fix it,” the tweet added.
Earlier this year, another IndiGo passenger had slammed the airline after her luggage was found damaged. ndiGo Airlines responded to the situation, issuing an apology and expressing regret for the inconvenience caused.
