A Delhi-bound IndiGo flight from Visakhapatnam, carrying 160 passengers on board, made an emergency landing at the Airport, according to PTI sources.
"Full emergency was declared at Indira Gandhi International Airport at 10.39 for IndiGo Visakhapatnam-Delhi flight 6E 579 due to one engine failure," a source told PTI.
There were 160 passengers on board the Boeing 737 aircraft, the source said. The Delhi Fire Service received an alert at 10:53 AM and responded promptly. The flight landed at 10.59 am as per flight tracking website flightradar24.com.
IndiGo issues statement
The airlines's spokesperson said, a technical snag was detected shortly before landing on IndiGo flight 6E 579 operating from Visakhapatnam to Delhi on 28 March 2026. "As a precautionary step and in accordance with the standard operating procedure, the pilots requested for priority landing and the aircraft arrived safely at Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi.""All relevant authorities were promptly informed and the aircraft is undergoing necessary checks and maintenance. At IndiGo, the safety of our customers and crew is our top priority."
