Domestic carrier IndiGo on Friday announced that all its flights to and from Visakhapatnam will operate from the new Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport starting August 17, 2026.

The new airport is located around 48 km from Visakhapatnam city centre, with the journey expected to take approximately 70-100 minutes depending on traffic conditions.

The airline has advised passengers to factor in the additional travel time and plan their commute accordingly. IndiGo said its teams will remain available to assist passengers during the transition.

Earlier on Thursday, IndiGo announced new flight services from Vijayawada to Varanasi and Kolkata.

Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu and Machilipatnam MP Vallabhaneni Balashowry were also present at the event.

"IndiGo has commenced new flight services linking Vijayawada with Varanasi and Kolkata, with the inaugural operations witnessing strong passenger response," the airport authority said in a release.
