As IndiGo continues to deal with widespread flight disruptions across the country, the Civil Aviation Ministry on Sunday said that refunds amounting to Rs 610 crore have been processed so far for affected passengers.

The update on refunds comes even as large-scale flight cancellations and delays continued across India for nearly a week, starting Tuesday.

However, the airline’s CEO Pieter Elbers said on Saturday that IndiGo had restored 95% of its network and is set to resume normal operations from December 10-15.

In another statement, Elbers informed that IndiGo will be operating around 1,650 flights on Sunday.

Passenger concessions and automatic refunds

In response to the operational issues, IndiGo had earlier announced a broad set of passenger relief measures, including automatic refunds and fee waivers over a 10-day period.

In a post on X, the airline said all cancelled bookings would be refunded automatically to the original mode of payment, without requiring passengers to submit any requests or explanations.

IndiGo also said passengers travelling between December 5 and December 15 would not be charged any cancellation or rescheduling fees, regardless of the reason for changing their travel plans.

The ministry also instructed airlines not to levy rescheduling charges on affected passengers, warning that failure to comply could invite regulatory action.
