IndiGo approves Rs 7,294 crore investment in InterGlobe Aviation Fin Services to acquire aircraft assets
IndiGo is investing Rs 7,294 crore in its subsidiary IndiGo IFSC. This capital infusion will allow IndiGo to directly own aircraft. The move supports the airline's strategy for a balanced ownership structure and diversified financing.
The investment, according to the company, will be made through a mix of equity shares and 0.01% non-cumulative optionally convertible redeemable preference shares (OCRPS), in one or more tranches. The funds raised by IndiGo IFSC will be used primarily for the acquisition of aviation assets, enabling the low-cost carrier to directly own aircraft.
Incorporated in October 2023, IndiGo IFSC provides aircraft and engine leasing services along with related financial services. The company reported a turnover of Rs 289.9 crore in FY25, a net profit of Rs 11.1 crore, and a net worth of Rs 413 crore as of March 31, 2025.
IndiGo said the latest investment aligns with its ongoing strategy to build a more balanced ownership structure and diversify financing sources. It added that the move reinforces its focus on prudent capital allocation and sustainable value creation for stakeholders.
Earlier this month, parent company InterGlobe Aviation Ltd reported a net loss of Rs 2,582 crore for the quarter ended September 2025, widening from a Rs 988.8 crore loss in the same period last year. Revenue rose 9.3% year-on-year to Rs 18,555 crore, compared with Rs 16,969 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
