MUMBAI: India's largest private airline budget carrier IndiGo announced that it is launching flights to Chandigarh from Mumbai beginning September 10. This would also mark the addition of Chandigarh as a new sector in IndiGo's network, the airline said.

While the services to Chandigarh are new flights, IndiGo is also ramping up flights between Mumbai and Goa by adding frequencies on these routes. With these flights IndiGo will be operating 373 daily flights connecting 33 destinations. The airline has a fleet of 59 Airbus A320 type aircraft.

As it plans its route IndiGo will be connecting Ahmedabad to Chandigarh and Goa to Chandigarh via Mumbai through the new flights.

"Mumbai-Chandigarh, and Mumbai-Ahmedabad have emerged as sectors that have started attracting both leisure and business passengers in the recent past, and hold immense potential for IndiGo. We are also looking at providing affordable fares on these new routes for regular travelers.

It is our constant endeavor to provide greater flexibility of choice for our customers, and we continue to offer them an on-time, hassle free and affordable experience. In addition, we are also looking at the connectivity between Bangalore and Chandigarh in near future," said Aditya Ghosh, President, IndiGo.

The airline recently emerged as the largest carrier with 27% market share according to data made available by the civil aviation regulator snapping up the position from established carrier like Jet Airways.
