Indian visitors to Singapore show second highest growth rate
In terms of tourism receipts or income in January-September, India came second registering a growth of 37%, following China which grew by 41%. Indonesia came third with a growth rate of 14%.
According to figures released by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) Friday, visitor numbers from India to Singapore grew by 8 per cent in 2016 compared to the previous year. India followed China whose visitors to Singapore grew by 36 per cent and beat Indonesia which grew by 6 per cent.
"The growth was due to more visitor arrivals from Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities in China, India and Indonesia, where STB had intensified its marketing efforts. India also overtook Australia to become Singapore’s 4th largest source market for visitor arrivals," said a statement from the board.
In terms of tourism receipts or income in January-September, India came third following China and Indonesia.
