Indian plans to introduce new flights

Gearing up to cash in on the forthcoming festive season, state-owned carrier Indian on Wednesday announced several initiatives including introducing new flights, increasing frequency and marketing schemes.

NEW DELHI: Gearing up to cash in on the forthcoming festive season, state-owned carrier Indian on Wednesday announced several initiatives including introducing new flights, increasing frequency and marketing schemes. Beginning September 15, the airline will operate a daily flight from Delhi to the temple towns of Khajuraho and Varanasi, Indian said in a statement issued here. It has also scheduled a daily flight on the Varanasi-Kathmandu-Varanasi route.

The airline has recently effected a capacity hike by increasing frequency of flights to seven days a week in select sectors, it said. The routes where Indian will now be flying seven days a week include the Delhi-Raipur-Vizag-Chennai sector, Chennai-Bhubaneshwar-Kolkata, Chennai-Bengalore-Chennai and Slichar-Imphal-Silchar. Indian also said frequency from Guwahati has also been stepped up with 14 flights a week on the Kolkata-Guwahati- Kolkata sector.
