India extends airspace ban on Pakistani flights till September 24

India has once again extended the closure of its airspace for Pakistan-registered aircraft, including planes operated, owned, or leased by Pakistani airlines and operators, as well as military flights, until September 24.

Pakistan has also extended its airspace ban for Indian aircraft until the same date. Both countries issued separate Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) formalizing the extensions.

The closure follows the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which killed 26 people. India had initially closed its airspace for Pakistan flights effective April 30. The ban was originally set to end on May 24 but has been extended monthly since then.


According to the NOTAM issued by India on August 22, Pakistani aircraft will not be allowed to use Indian airspace, with the closure effective until 23:59 UTC on September 23, which corresponds to 05:30 IST on September 24. The measure is part of several steps taken by the Indian government in response to the Pahalgam attack.

Pakistan had earlier issued a NOTAM on August 20 extending restrictions on Indian aircraft operating in its airspace.

NOTAMs are official notices that provide essential information for personnel involved in flight operations.
