Hyderabad Airport to slash user fees from Sept 1

Mumbai: Air travel out of Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport is set to get cheaper starting September 1, 2026, as India's aviation economic regulator moves to slash airport development charges for millions of passengers.

The Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India (AERA) issued an order setting airport's baseline aggregate revenue requirement at ₹11,683.49 crore ($1.4 billion) for the 2026-2031 control period. The regulatory body drastically rationalised the tariff proposal submitted by operator GMR Hyderabad International Airport (GHIAL), which had sought ₹27,851 crore.

Under the new order, the departure fee for domestic passengers-who make up roughly 82% of total traffic at the hub-will drop to ₹515 from existing ₹750. Arriving domestic passengers will now pay ₹220.


International travellers will also see fee cuts. Departure fees will fall from ₹1,500 to ₹1,030, while arriving international passengers will be levied a ₹440 fee.
