Home Min grants security clearance to Jet Airways

NEW DELHI: The Union Home Ministry had granted security clearance to the Jet Airways and informed the Civil Aviation Ministry in November 2004, Rajya Sabha was informed on Wednesday.

The Civil Aviation Ministry sought the provision of security clearance in regard to Indian, NRI and foreign Directors on the Board of private airline in July 2001, Minister of State for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal said in reply to a question by CPI(M) members Brinda Karat and Tapan Sen.

This proposal was further amended by Jet Airways on July 24, 2003, and it was conveyed to the Home Ministry on October 10, 2003.

"This was examined in great detail by the concerned security and law enforcement agencies and the security clearance was conveyed to the Ministry of Civil Aviation on November one, 2004", Jaiswal said.
