BANGALORE: Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) has entered into an alliance with Canada-based CAE, provider of simulation and modelling technologies and integrated training services for the civil and defence aviation, to set up a helicopter simulator training centre here.

This 50:50 JV company to be called Helicopter Academy to Train by Simulation of Flying (HATSOFF) is expected to be operational by 2008.

The training centre plans to offer flight and maintenance training, as well as initial, conversion, recurrent and mission training.

It will offer civil and military helicopter pilot and maintenance training services.

CAE will design and manufacture one full-mission simulator featuring roll-on/roll-off cockpit design, which enables cockpits representing various helicopter types to be used in the simulator.
