Govt asks pvt airport operators not to charge UDF

NEW DELHI: Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel on Tuesday asked the private airport operators not to charge user development fee (UDF) from domestic passengers.
"The private airport operators should not charge UDF from domestic passengers but they can charge it from international passengers," Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel said on the sidelines of the second Airport and Airlines Expo here today.
He asked the airport operators to refrain from taking any decision in this regard till the ministry comes up with an agreed formula.
The minister also suggested that the UDF charges should be higher for passengers travelling on long-haul routes.
Speaking about the Airport Economic Regulatory Authority Bill, he said draft of the legislation was being considered by the Parliamentary Standing Committee.
