The order, titled the Aviation Turbine Fuel (Regulation of Marketing) Amendment Order, 2026, modifies key clauses of the existing framework governing ATF marketing in India.
Under the revised provision, the definition of aviation turbine fuel has been updated. It states that “aviation turbine fuel” is “a complex mixture of hydrocarbons conforming to IS 1571 specification or its blend with synthesised hydrocarbons as specified in IS 17081.” This replaces the earlier wording in the principal order.
The amendment also removes the reference to “IBP Co. Limited” from sub-clause (v), eliminating a company-specific mention from the regulation.
Further, the government has aligned enforcement provisions with the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023. The notification states, “the provisions of section 103 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (46 of 2023), relating to search and seizure shall, as far as may be, apply to searches and seizures under this order.”
The principal order was first published in March 2001 and was last amended in December 2014. The latest amendment updates regulatory clarity and enforcement alignment within the ATF marketing framework.
