Government not considering changing name of any airport: Mahesh Sharma
"It (changing names of some of the airports in the country) is not under our consideration," Minister of State for Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma said.
"It (changing names of some of the airports in the country) is not under our consideration," Minister of State for Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma told PTI here tonight.
Sharma's comments came in the backdrop of media reports that the Civil Aviation ministry was examining proposals from some BJP and RSS leaders to rename some of the airports including Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport.
One of the proposals from a BJP office-bearer was to rename the IGIA after Mahatma Gandhi.
Sharma said that the ministry has received some suggestions and "if there are some suggestions they are looked at but that does not mean they get implemented also."
