GoAir flight with 168 passengers on board hits aerobridge at Chennai airport

It was a close shave for passengers on a Mumbai-Chennai GoAir flight after the aerobridge at Chennai airport hit the fuselage of the aircraft.

NEW DELHI: It was a close shave for passengers on a Mumbai-Chennai GoAir flight after the aerobridge at Chennai airport hit the fuselage of the aircraft.

DGCA sources said that the aerobridge hit the aircraft after the aerobridge operator hit the fuselage while aligning the aerobridge with the aircraft door.

"The flight no G8 305 with 168 passengers on board was hit by the aerobridge at 6.35 in the morning. The DGCA has ordered an inquiry into the issue," said a Senior DGCA official.

The official, however, added that prima facie it seems to be the aerobridge operators fault. "The aerobridge operator was on phone while aligning the bridge with the plane," he said.

The flight was to operate to Port Blair from Chennai and the passengers are being sent in other flights of the airline.
