GoAir Tuesday announced the appointment of former EasyJet executive Cornelis Vrieswijk as its new CEO.

In a statement, the airline said he will be reporting to the Chairman Nusli Wadia Managing Director Jeh Wadia and the Board of Directors of GoAir.

The statement described Vrieswijk as a “seasoned global executive and a consultant with over 25 years of experience in aviation and travel industry,” .

It said he has had stints with Thomas Cook Group, EasyJet and Transavia Airlines through in various roles, but didn’t elaborate what the roles were.

“Prior to joining us he was board advisor, One Tour Operator Transformation with the Thomas Cook Group PLC, UK,” the statement said.

Vrieswijk joins after its former CEO Wolfgang Prock-Schauer quit in December.

Prock-Schauer’s exit was on a sour note marked by staunch disagreements with the airline’s promoters. Months later, he was taken to court by them on accusations of data theft. There hasn’t been an outcome to the case yet. Prock-Schauer is now chief operating officer at India’s biggest airline by market share IndiGo.
