MUMBAI: Come February, flying from Chhatrapati Shivaji International airport here will be costlier as the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority ( AERA) today approved a 154 per cent rise in development fee from passengers.

The new tariff would come into effect from February 1. Passengers will have to pay Rs 346 (domestic) and Rs 692 (international) as development fee from February 1 to March 31, an over 500-page order of AERA said.

However, from April onwards, the development fee would be scaled down and passengers would be be charged Rs 274 (domestic) and Rs 574 (international) as development fee.

The charges would be in effect for a year. The CSI airport operator had sought 875 per cent rise in tariff but the regulator has approved a lower tariff hike.
