SpiceJet flight overshoots runway at Mumbai airport; none hurt
MUMBAI: The downpour in Mumbai has disrupted flight operations to and from the city’s airport, throwing schedules awry.

The main runway at the airport has been shut since late last night. This happed as a SpiceJet flight coming from Jaipur, overshot the airport runway while landing. Passengers were deplaned safely.

A total of 52 flights have been cancelled and 54 diverted to neighbouring airports, according to an airport spokesperson. The Bombay Municipal Corp earlier in the day declared a public holiday and issued advisories for citizens to stay indoors.

According to BMC's disaster management cell, about 1,000 people were evacuated from Kranti Nagar in Kurla, to prevent any untoward incidents due to an overflowing Mithi river. Water continues to be pumped out of railway stations.

In a tweet, the BMC said 13 people died as a wall collapsed on a few hutments in Kurar village.
