A fire broke out on the roof of a canteen at the domestic terminal of Chennai airport but there were no casualties, airport sources said.

CHENNAI: A fire broke out on the roof of a canteen at the domestic terminal of Chennai airport but there were no casualties, airport sources said.

The fire, triggered by a short circuit, started at around 12.30 pm and lasted for over three hours before a firefighters extinguished it, the sources said.

The canteen was opened by the Airport Authority of India last week.

Meanwhile, Home Secretary G K Pillai arrived at the domestic terminal by an Air India flight at 3.45 pm. He is scheduled to attend a function in IIT-Madras tomorrow.
