New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday asked the Centre to ground airlines that do not follow airfare rules, even as the government said the final rules to regulate airfares in the country would be finalised within three weeks.

The apex court's observation came after the civil aviation ministry informed the court that it had been issuing office memorandums to airlines on pricing till the rules to regulate airfares were finalised. However, the airlines were not following any directives issued by it, the ministry said. The top court also perused the draft rules to regulate airfares that were submitted by the government in a sealed cover. It will now hear the case next on September 7.
