Demand for air travel continued to grow sequentially in January, on the back of capacity addition by airlines and increase in the number of people taking flights. Indian carriers saw a 5.5% increase in passenger numbers in January compared with December. However, year-on-year, passenger traffic fell 39.50%. The government currently allows airlines to operate only up to 80% of their pre-Covid fights.
