People will need to pay full fares when they buy the ticket and then submit the death or hospitalization certificate to the airline within 60 days to get the refund on basic fare component of ticket price.
The airline will offer these “medical emergency fares" from Monday to the deceased or hospitalized person's spouse, "registered partner", parents, children, siblings and parent-in-laws. The documents required to be presented include the certificate of death or hospitalization from the treating hospital and proof of relationship with the guest like copy of passport.
Stating that such tickets are invariably purchased at the last minute, Kingfisher CEO Sanjay Aggarwal said: "While booking emergency fare, full prevailing fare amount will need to be paid. Once eligibility of the guest and required documentation is submitted, the difference between 50% of the full fare amount and the actual fare paid will be refunded to the guest", in up to 60 days.
The refund will be credited between 45 and 60 days.
