Dubai's Emirates to receive first A380 on July 28

Dubai's Emirates airline, the largest customer of the Airbus A380, announced on Thursday said it would receive the first of 58 superjumbos in July.

DUBAI: Dubai's Emirates airline, the largest customer of the Airbus A380, announced on Thursday said it would receive the first of 58 superjumbos in July.

"Emirates airline, the largest customer for the A380 superjumbo... will receive the first of its 58 A380 aircraft on order from Airbus' Hamburg facility on 28 July," a statement said.

"The 58 A380s on Emirates' order book are worth 18.8 billion dollars at current list prices," it said.

Emirates said it will receive five of the planes during its current financial year ending next March.

It plans to deploy its fist A380 aircraft on routes from Dubai to New York, London Heathrow and Sydney-Auckland.

Airbus opened a logistics centre in Dubai in April to serve fast-growing Middle East carriers, including Emirates.
