Alliance Air to lease 10 planes from Dubai Aerospace for Connect India programme

These aircraft will be used for regional connectivity under the Connect India scheme and also regional connectivity scheme announced by the government.

NEW DELHI: Alliance Air, Air India’s regional subsidiary, will lease 10 72-seater ATR aircraft from Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) this year to expand under the airline’s Connect India programme and the government’s regional connectivity scheme.

“These aircraft will be used for regional connectivity under the Connect India scheme and also regional connectivity scheme announced by the government,” said a senior Air India official, who didn’t want to be named.

The airline launched its first flight under the subsidised regional connectivity between Shimla and Delhi. Under Connect India, it aims to complement its large-aircraft operations to small cities with ATR planes.
