Domestic passengers may have to pay UDF from August at RGIA
Domestic air travellers taking from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport may have to shell out more as airport operators are planning to introduce user development fees
"We are expecting the approval on the UDF from Ministry of Civil Aviation by the end of this month, and will implement it as soon as we get the approval," said A Viswanath, Chief Commercial Officer of RGIA.
The RGIA operators have been collecting USD 25 (Rs 1,000) as UDF from the passengers travelling abroad while domestic travellers were exempted following the decision of Ministry of Civil Aviation.
"We have suggested five models to the ministry for calculation of UDF slab. They are -- passengers travelling within or outside the state, travelling to a metro city or non-metro city, travelling less that 500 kms or more than 500 kms, taking a low cost carrier or full cost carrier flight and will their flight is of less than one hour or more," Viswanath, who is also vice president (Corporate Planning) said.
"Whatever model the ministry suggests, we will implement it," he added.
The RGIA, developed by GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL), started operating from March 16 and has completed 100 days of its opeartions on July 1.
