Domestic air passenger flown in November 20.7% up over October 20; down 50.9% y-o-y

Demand for air travel continued its growth trajectory during the month of November, when India celebrated Diwali, by growing by 20.7% over October. The domestic aviation industry, however, continued to decline year-on-year, and fell by 50.93% during November this year as compared to the same month last year. This is an improvement over October, which had seen a decline of 57.2% over the same month last year. Domestic passenger numbers in November hit 6.4 million as compared to 5.3 million in October.

This surge in passenger demand is expected to continue during the month of December too, as people are set to travel for holidays during the year-end.

Load factors (passengers carried per flight) in November were higher than October indicating that the increase in traffic is sustainable despite addition of new flights
