DIAL appoints 4-member committee to probe T1D flooding
Delhi International Airport Limited constituted a four-member high-level committee to probe into the reasons of flooding and collapse of a part of the new domestic departure terminal building of IGI airport here.
The DIAL Board, in a special meeting today, decided to set a four-member expert committee under the chairmanship of R S S L N Bhaskarudu, an independent director of DIAL.
The committee will also comprise P S Nair, CEO DIAL, P Seth from the Airports Authority of India and an eminent civil engineering expert, whose name is yet to be decided.
The committee will enquire into the incident and submit its report in three weeks, besides suggesting remedial measures to avoid recurrence.
Hafeez Contractor, architects of the terminal, B L Kashyap, the main contractor, Tata Consulting Engineers (the project management and quality control consultants) and Tata BlueScope Steel Limited (the designers, suppliers and installers of the roof) have also been called in to assist the committee to access the cause of the damage.
Meanwhile, normalcy was today restored at the airport here with more than 400 flights being operated since morning, including over 120 departures from Terminal 1D.
Yesterday, flight operations were hit following heavy rains that led to water-logging and collapse of a part of the newly-built domestic departure terminal building.
