Dharamshala to Delhi SpiceJet flight diverted to Amritsar after engine failure, lands safely

A SpiceJet flight from Dharamshala to Delhi faced an emergency situation on Wednesday, leading to its diversion to Amritsar. The turboprop Q400 aircraft encountered an engine failure, prompting the shutdown of one engine as a precautionary measure. Despite the engine issue, the aircraft was able to land safely in Amritsar.

SpiceJet provided details of the incident, stating, "On April 10, 2024, SpiceJet Q400 aircraft was operating Dharamshala - Delhi. While passing flight level 13,000 feet, oil pressure on engine number 2 started fluctuating. Associated (protocol) was carried out and number 2 engine was shutdown at flight level 14,000 feet. As a precautionary measure aircraft diverted and landed safely at Amritsar."

The Q400 aircraft has been a source of maintenance challenges for SpiceJet, with recurring engineering issues. This incident underscores the ongoing efforts required to ensure the safety and reliability of the airline's fleet.
