Pakistan has shut its airspace for Indian airlines. Because of this, many international flights, especially those leaving from north Indian cities like Delhi, are being forced to take longer routes. This is causing delays and longer flying hours.
What has DGCA said?
The DGCA has issued an advisory asking airlines to improve their services and communication with passengers. Since flights are now longer and may need to make technical stops for fuel, passengers must be kept informed and looked after properly.5 Key Areas Airlines Must Focus On:
- Pre-Flight Communication – Keep passengers informed about longer flight times and possible delays.
- In-Flight Catering and Comfort – Provide enough food, water, and comfort items during the flight.
- Medical Preparedness & Alternate Airports – Be ready for medical help if needed and plan for emergency stops.
- Customer Support – Offer better help and support for affected passengers.
- Team Coordination – Improve internal planning and coordination between different airline departments.
The DGCA said that international flights are now taking more time due to airspace restrictions and flight rerouting. Some flights may also need to stop mid-route for technical or fuel reasons.
