Delta Airlines to start Mumbai, NY direct flight
US-based Delta Airlines on Monday said it would start a direct flight between Mumbai and New York later this year.

NEW DELHI: US-based Delta Airlines on Monday said it would start a direct flight between Mumbai and New York later this year.
"The Mumbai to New York forms an integral part of Delta's strategy to offer customers greater choice of non-stop service to and from United States," Delta Airlines CEO Jim Whitehurst said in a statement.
After the commencement of the direct flight on November 1 this year, Delta will discontinue its one-stop service to the US from Mumbai and Chennai via Paris, the airlines said.
It, however said, the carrier planned to continue to service Chennai via a codeshare with Sky Team partner Air France.
The Mumbai-NY flight will be operated using 268 seater Boeing 777-200ER aircraft with 50 business class and 218 economy class seats, it added.
The airlines will also provide passengers from Mumbai onward connections to other destinations like Los Angeles, San Fransisco, Boston, Cincinnati and Tampa, it added.
