As Delhi woke up to another foggy morning of the winter season on Monday, passengers may witness flight disruptions throughout the day. Airports across North India, including Delhi and Srinagar, have cancelled a number of flights over the last week because of dense fog and low visibility in the national capital.

In an advisory issued on Monday morning, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) stated that low visibility procedures are in progress at the airport. "All flight operations are presently normal," the authority said.

Delhi Airport witnessed more than 105 flight cancellations and 450 service delays on Sunday due to low-visibility conditions amid fog. As per official information accessed by PTI, at least 55 arrivals and 52 departures were cancelled at the airport.

Delhi survives 'severe' AQI

The national capital is under the cover of dense fog and pollution for weeks. Delhi's air quality slipped to the 'severe' mark last week, with Air Quality Index (AQI) being as high as 430 in several areas.

The ITO area witnessed 369 AQI on Monday morning, categorised as 'very poor', as claimed by CPCB (Central Pollution Control Board) while the Anand Vihar area of Delhi recorded a 402, categorised as 'severe'.

CAQM (Commission for Air Quality Management) has invoked all actions under GRAP Stage-IV in Delhi-NCR, banning construction activities, outside vehicular movement and imposing other curbs to mitigate pollution.

Bengaluru, Varanasi & other cities also affected

As winter continues to seep into the country, several Indian cities are facing dense fog conditions. Bengaluru, Varanasi, Jaipur, Amritsar, Agra, Ayodhya, Assam and other cities witnessed dense fog conditions on Monday morning.

Low visibility amid dense fog has led to flight disruptions across various states of India, especially the northenr ones. SpiceJet airline, on Monday, warned of impact on flight operations in Varanasi, Amritsar and Bengaluru, requesting passengers to keep a check on their flight status
