Hours after Delhi Airport said that flight operations at the Indira Gandhi International Airport are running smoothly, it had to cancel 118 flights as dense fog engulfed the national capital.

In a passenger advisory issued at 7 AM, DIAL assured travellers that on-ground staff are available across terminals to assist passengers and provide necessary support. Flyers have been advised to check with their respective airlines for the latest flight schedules.

The update comes a day after dense fog disrupted air traffic in the national capital. On Monday, at least 128 flights were cancelled, eight were diverted and nearly 470 services were delayed due to low visibility conditions, officials said. This included 64 departures and 64 arrivals that were cancelled.

Flight-tracking website Flightradar24 showed that close to 470 flights faced delays during the disruption on Monday.

Airlines IndiGo and Air India had earlier cautioned passengers about fog-related delays and advised them to check flight status before heading to the airport. IndiGo had issued a travel advisory for Delhi, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Jammu, Kolkata, Ranchi, Guwahati and Hindon airports.

DIAL operates the Indira Gandhi International Airport, which handles around 1,300 flight movements daily.
