Consultant submits feasibility report on Jewar airport

While the TEFR says the airport project is feasible, the SIA states that farmers of Gautam Budh Nagar are willing to part with their lands for the project.

PricewaterhouseCoopers, the consultant appointed to fasttrack the Jewar airport, on Friday submitted the draft techno-economic feasibility report to Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority. A social impact assessment report, put in place by Gautam Budh University (GBU), has also been submitted to the Authority. While the TEFR says the airport project is feasible, the SIA states that farmers of Gautam Budh Nagar are willing to part with their lands for the project.

Both reports will now be forwarded to Uttar Pradesh government after which an in-principle approval will be sought for the proposed airport project from the Union ministry of civil aviation by the end of March or first week of April, YEIDA officials said. According to officials, a final TEFR and SIA will be submitted to it by the respective agencies by the end of March. “The draft of the TEFR has focused on trends in aviation sector, passenger traffic estimation, regional connectivity, potential of having a cargo facility and avenues of non-aeronautical revenues for the project,” said Arun Vir Singh, CEO, YEIDA.
