Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL) accused SpiceJet of spreading misinformation by blaming bad weather for recent flight disruptions from Kochi.

Mumbai: Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL) on Saturday accused SpiceJet of spreading misinformation by attributing disruptions to its Kochi operations to bad weather, saying there were no adverse weather conditions at the airport to warrant the cancellations and delays.

The airport operator's statement came after the budget carrier issued a passenger advisory on social media, warning that bad weather in Kochi could affect arrivals, departures and consequential flights, and asking passengers to check their flight status before travelling to the airport. CIAL said it had observed continuing operational issues affecting SpiceJet's services from Kochi, including international flights, causing considerable inconvenience and uncertainty for passengers. It said no other airline operating from the airport had reported weather-related cancellations during the same period. "Inordinate delays and even cancellations have marked SpiceJet's services from Kochi in recent days," CIAL said.
