Charges of overpriced air tickets in Chennai sector post-flood will be looked into: Ashok Ganapathy Raju
The allegations of airlines charging exorbitant fares in Chennai sector following the unprecedented deluge will be looked into, Civil Aviation Minister said.
"Generally what happens is, airlines declare their minimum and maximum (fares) on internet. This is not a regulated fare. It happens like that. It is a free market, like where some people get cheap (tickets) and others don't," he said in an apparent reference to the airlines' dynamic pricing formula.
But the idea was "not to exploit anyone" and allegations of overpricing of tickets will be looked into, he added.
