Centre to consider increasing daily flights to Agartala

Ashok Gajapathi Raju has assured Tripura Governor to consider request for increasing daily flights and upgradation of Agartala airport, Raj Bhawan officials said.

AGARTALA: Civil aviation minister P Ashok Gajapathi Raju has assured Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy to consider the request for increasing daily flights to the state and upgradation of Agartala airport, Raj Bhawan officials said today.

The governor had met the union minister in Delhi yesterday and held detailed discussions with him on air connectivity especially with Kolkata in view of the state's geographical isolation, the official said here.

He also requested the union minister to consider upgradation of Agartala airport to customs airport level in view of the projected increase of traffic between Tripura and Bangladesh, they said.
