British aviation industry eyeing business with India

Thirteen UK companies participated in the seminar to share their expertise in the airport sector and learnt about opportunities in the Indian market for their products and services.

NEW DELHI: Eyeing the growing aviation sector in India, a delegation of British aviation industry representatives is on a four-day visit to the country to establish new business relationships with their counterparts here.
"India is one of the most exciting aviation markets. We perceive there's business worth 5-10 billion dollars to be done here," said Malcom Trigg, Chairman of the British Airports Group, the representative body of UK-based aviation companies, at a seminar here.
The delegation would provide an opportunity to the participants to establish new and develop existing business relationships with key Indian airport sector contacts.
Trigg said the British aviation companies increasingly feel there is more business potential in India than in China today.
"And that's the reason why more and more companies are shifting their business focus from China to India," he said.
Thirteen UK companies participated in the seminar to share their expertise in the airport sector and learnt about opportunities in the Indian market for their products and services. They also delivered presentations on topics ranging from airport, master planning and design, route development, ground and cargo handling systems to leading ATC technologies.
The delegation during its stay in Delhi, will call on Civil Aviation Joint Secretary R K Singh, Airport Authority of India Chairman Ramalingam and senior officials of the Delhi International Airports Ltd.
The delegation will also visit Hyderabad and Mumbai after spending two days in the national capital.
