Bombardier bets big on India
Highlights
We are looking for a local partner in India to start our service from the country, Bombardier Skyjet International MD Judith Moreton said. India is already a key emerging market for many of SkyJet Internationals clients. We get at least two requests every month for flying into India, said Moreton. India contributes just about 5% to Bombardiers charter business globally.
But all that will change with a presence in the country. This will help us to ramp up our services in and out of the country, said Moreton. Bombardier charters plan to target both the business and leisure segments in the country. Bombardier charters already have a presence in Pakistan with Princely Jets. Skyjet International has a fleet of 930 aircraft and a network spread over 5,500 airports globally. To service its ever-expanding customer base of business jets, Bombardier is looking at setting up MRO facilities in the country. Its family of business jets - comprising of Learjet, Challenger and Global - come with price-tag ranging from $8.5 million to over $50 million a piece. Interestingly, India is increasingly being seen as a market for long-haul business jets, with high-profile corporate clients prefering inter-continental travel. In the past 15 months, Bombardier has sold three business jets in the Indian subcontinent.
