BANGALORE: In the wake of a US warning on terror strikes in Delhi and Mumbai, authorities at the airport here have banned hand baggage in international flights with immediate effect.
"Passengers flying to UK and US will not be allowed to carry hand baggage into the aircraft from today. However, the passengers can carry some items like medicines in a transparent bag provided by us," an official of the Bangalore Airport told PTI here.
Even passengers taking connecting flights from here to other destination to travel to UK and US will also be not permitted to carry hand baggage, the official said.
Meanwhile, the CISF has stepped up vigil and baggage checking, the official said.
Baggage is being subjected to rigorous checks at the domestic and international terminals of the airport, the official said.
City police have also been maintaining vigil on the movement of passengers and others while they enter the airport, the sources said.
