Better facilities, reduced charges will earn more profit: AAI
In order to make airports earn more profit, AAI Chairman K Ramalingam on Monday advocated the need for providing better services and reduction in various charges levied by them.
"There is a need for providing better services and reducing various charges levied by the airports to make them more profitable. Reduction in charges and better services will invite more air carriers and help in earning more money," Ramalingam said.
He was speaking at the inaugural session of the five-day Workshop and International Conference on Air Transport, Air Law and Regulation here.
He said that airports should look for other sources of generating non-traffic revenues to earn profits.
Noting that the sector is experiencing a growth of 20 per cent as against the expected five per cent, he said the AAI was making all efforts to provide advanced infrastructure to air travellers.
"This growth has created a need for development of infrastructure in the country and Airports Authority of India is providing infrastructure in the shortest span of time," he said.
The central government and the AAI has made all efforts to provide better and advanced infrastructure to air travellers, he said.
"In last two-three years, the aviation sector has witnessed a sea-change, which include infrastructural as well as technical. This has given rise to some legal issues, which needs to be dealt with," Ramalingam added.
