Bengaluru Airport gets personalised travel guide in one-stop app

Passengers in Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru will now be able to track queues, check in, reserve tables at restaurants and much more through a single app. Airport operator Bangalore International Airport (BIAL) on Monday launched BLR Pulse - an app to enhance passenger experience - in collaboration with GrayMatter Software Services.

The objective is to help passengers plan their travel on the go even before they reach the airport, said BIAL MD Hari Marar. “We are connecting the physical and digital worlds to create a 'Phygital' environment that will provide passengers and visitors with a unique interactive experience.”

The omnichannel platform with a chatbot allows passengers to find their way through the airport, locate lost items, and get flight status updates on their phones or email.


GrayMatter Software Services CEO Vikas Gupta said there is a growing trend of airports fast becoming digital marketplaces. “A digital travel companion showcasing the services available and personalising user experience is beneficial to both the airport and the passengers.”

The app enables a single payment system for all purchases across the airport using a unified payment gateway. It is available on both Apple and Google playstores.

Throughout this year, the app plans to introduce new features that will enable passengers to book transit hotels, buy retail and duty free products, reserve cabs and book flights.

BIAL had launched an app called BLRAirport in June 2020, where passengers can track and share flight information and obtain information about the airport’s lounges, retail stores and restaurants.
