Aviation ministry asks airlines to not overcharge passengers

NEW DELHI: As airfares have gone up due to sudden increase in demand from tourists leaving Kashmir after an advisory from the state government, the aviation ministry has asked airlines to not overcharge passengers.

“On advice from the aviation ministry, We have advised the airlines to rein in the surging price for Yatries returning from Amarnath dham,” said a senior DGCA official, who did not want to be identified.

The source also added that almost all tourists have been evacuated from the valley and the fares from Monday are at normal levels.


The central government has also deployed the Indian Air Force to evacuate passengers from the valley.
