Airlines revoke ban on Telgu Desam Party MP Diwakar Reddy

JC Diwakar Reddy was banned by airlines for his unruly behaviour when he reportedly broke office equipment on June 15 and abused IndiGo staff at Visakhapatnam airport.

NEW DELHI: Airlines today revoked ban on JC Diwakar Reddy, Telgu Desam Party (TDP) MP from Andhra Pradesh.

"Senior IndiGo officials today met Honourable Member of Parliament Diwakar Reddy, at a lunch hosted by senior Member of Parliament Y.S. Chaudhary, to resolve the issue of Honourable Member Diwakar Reddy's ban on IndiGo flights," the airline said in a statement.

"The issue is amicably resolved between the two and IndiGo has decided to lift the said ban with immediate effect and Reddy is withdrawing the case he has filed."

Former minister and MP JC Diwakar Reddy was banned by airlines for his unruly behaviour when he reportedly broke office equipment on June 15 and abused IndiGo staff at Visakhapatnam airport when they refused to let him board the flight to Hyderabad as he turned up late.

Seven domestic airlines, including IndiGo, had barred the TDP legislator on all flights.

Reddy had said the incident was "blown out of proportion".

To stop such incidents at the airports, the government is preparing a national 'no-fly' list by the end of this month as incidents of unruly passengers, particularly politicians, have continued unabated despite heavy criticism in media.
