Airlines gradually increasing flights to Chennai as city limps back to normal

GoAir announced that it has resumed complete flight operations to Chennai and will operate flights to Mumbai, Pune and Port Blair.

MUMBAI: Airlines are gradually starting to increase flights to Chennai as the city limps back to normal after devastating floods last week.

Jet Airways said it will operate flights between Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi today. It operated a flight to Bangalore yesterday.

GoAir announced that it has resumed complete flight operations to Chennai and will operate flights to Mumbai, Pune and Port Blair.

A statement from the Airports Authority of India said other airlines such as new regional carrier TruJet also flew to and from Chennai today.

Chennai airport is closed since Wednesday night after heavy rains led to water logging on the runway.

The AAI had earlier announced closure of runway till Sunday afternoon but services started from Saturday as water receded after rain stopped.
