Air travel agencies to stir against airline companies on August 14

Nearly 30 air travel agencies of Saurashtra and Kuch region have decided to go on strike on August 14 to extend their support to a day-long strike called by All India Travel Association.

RAJKOT: Nearly 30 air travel agencies of Saurashtra and Kuch region have decided to go on strike on August 14 to extend their support to a day-long strike called by All India Travel Association.

The strike is to protest against the airline companies' decesion to stop the commission to agencies from November 1, Devendra Shah, Chairman of Saurashtra Kutch Air Travel Association told PTI here.

The strike has been called to protest against the decision of airline companies, Shah said adding that travel agencies can not switchout commission.

The airline companies were paying commission upto five per cent to the agencies and have now decided to stop giving the commission from November 1.

Terming air travel agencies as an all important factor in travel tourism, Shah said the airline companies have been given 93 per cent of their bussiness by the agencies and now the airline companies are trying to eradicate travel agencies from the travel tourism.
