NEW DELHI: Air Sahara is planning to launch flights to Port Blair next month, enhancing the air connectivity available to Andaman & Nicobar Islands. This would make Air Sahara the third private airline to operate flights to the south-eastern region. At present, Jet Airways and Air Deccan, apart from public sector Indian, operate flights to Port Blair.

Air Sahara will be introducing flights on the Kolkata-Port Blair-Kolkata sector from September 4, industry sources said. Passengers from Delhi would also get connectivity to Port Blair as the flight would act as a Delhi-Kolkata-Port Blair connection.

Besides regular flights, these islands are also connected with giant passenger vessels, which ply between Port Blair and three cities - Kolkata, Chennai and Visakhapatnam.
