Air India has launched a new paid service called 'ZipAhead,' which offers priority check-in and baggage handling to Economy Class passengers on domestic flights within India.

The service is designed to provide time-saving benefits to travellers who are not otherwise eligible for priority services, allowing them to move quickly through airport touchpoints, Air India said in a press release on Thursday.

Passengers who opt for the 'ZipAhead' service will be able to check in at Air India's dedicated Premium Economy counters and enjoy priority baggage handling.

The service is currently available at six major Indian airports: Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata.

The service is available at two price points:

  • Rs 499/- will be charged if purchased more than six hours before departure
  • Rs 699/- if purchased within six hours of departure
Travellers can purchase 'ZipAhead' up to 75 minutes before their flight through Air India’s website, mobile app, airport ticketing offices, or customer contact center.
