Air India joins fare war; offers 30% discount on all fare bands

Previously, IndiGo, GoAir and Jet Airways all followed cues from low-cost carrier SpiceJet which announced a 75% discount on base fares.

NEW DELHI: National carrier Air India joined the fare war on Wednesday by announcing a three day window from February 27 to March 1, offering passengers a 30% discount on all its fare bands.

The bookings have to be for travel between March 29 to September 30. Previously, IndiGo, GoAir and Jet Airways all followed cues from low-cost carrier SpiceJet which announced a 75% discount on base fares for travel between April 1 to June 30, a peak season for airlines. Air India's discounts have extended the discounted travel period by three more months.

Meanwhile, witnessing a heavy traction from customers, SpiceJet announced on Wednesday evening that it is extending its booking window by one more day. Passengers can now avail of SpiceJet's offers till February 27.
