New Delhi: Aviation regulator DGCA has approved the use of electronic technical logbooks for Air India's Boeing 787 and 777 planes, a step that will replace most of the paper-based maintenance records with a digital system.

The Electronic Technical Logbook (ETL) will provide real-time information sharing between maintenance engineers, and operational teams, improving coordination, accelerating defect reporting and rectification, and enhancing aircraft dispatch reliability.

In a release on Monday, Air India said ETL will replace traditional paper-based maintenance records with a secure digital platform, enabling faster, more accurate, and efficient management of aircraft maintenance and engineering activities.
